Latest update

v2.4

Mouse DPI Test and Impossible targets

Slide your mouse along a card, paper or a ruler to estimate its real DPI. Plus Impossible, a new smallest target size.

  • The Mouse DPI Test gives a quick estimate after one slide and a full one after three. It names your mouse's likely setting when it can, and says how sure it is.
  • It only captures your mouse while it measures, and lets go after each slide, or whenever you press Esc. Find it any time in the Tools menu, with your last estimate beside it.
  • Impossible is one size smaller than Tiny: 6 px targets worth 21 points a hit. It is not offered on a touch screen with no mouse, since a 6 px target is too small to tap.
  • Impossible targets grow and shrink three times as fast, so they spend most of their six seconds at full size. The red X from a near miss stays behind them, so it never hides one.
  • Three new achievements for Impossible: Mission Possible, Atom Smasher and Pinpoint, making 29 in the game. Eagle Eye, Pixel Perfect and Microscopic count Impossible games too.
  • With Mouse Path Recording off, the results page now has a picture of your result to copy, save or share. Before, it had none, or an empty one.
  • A link to any page on the site now shows that page's own preview picture when you post it.
  • Targets now appear in full view. Some used to land partly or fully off the bottom of the screen, which cost you efficiency.
  • Sep 29: A page we add now opens right away when you come back to the site, instead of showing Target Not Found.

Mouse Test and Click Speed Test

v2.3

Two free tools: test your mouse's buttons and wheel and estimate its polling rate, or see how fast you can click.

  • The Mouse Test checks the left, right, middle and side buttons, the scroll wheel and accidental double clicks, and estimates your polling rate.
  • The Click Speed Test times runs of 1 to 60 seconds with a mouse, the keyboard or touch, gives you a letter rank, and keeps your bests in this browser.
  • On the keyboard, every press counts toward your speed, and your rank is that speed divided by how many keys you spread the presses over. The result shows the math.
  • Save or share your Click Speed Test result as a picture.
  • The home page now shows how to play and how scoring works in short cards, and small (i) tips on the game settings and results say what each one means.
  • The site works better with a keyboard and screen readers, and a new Accessibility page says what works today, what does not yet, and how to ask us for something.
  • New under Performance and Accessibility Options on the settings card: Hover to hit for head and eye trackers, Click with any key for switches, and a Motion setting for animations outside the game.
  • Fixes: the settings card fits tablets and small phones, buttons are easier to read with a green or orange target color, the countdown beeps once on each number, and the game starts even if your browser blocks storage.
  • Sep 22: Both tools are now in the new Tools menu and on the home page, and the Click Speed Test has nine achievements to unlock.
  • Sep 22: Hold R to restart a Click Speed Test run. It is off in Keys mode, where R counts as a press.
  • Sep 23: www.mouseaccuracy.com now brings you to mouseaccuracy.com, with your scores and achievements.
  • Sep 25: Three or more achievements earned at once now share one pop-up.

Offline play and a round of fixes

v2.2

Once you have loaded the site, the game is saved to your device and plays with no internet connection.

  • Targets, scoring, achievements, sounds and cursors all keep working offline.
  • In Chrome or Edge, click Install App at the bottom of the page, then open the game from your desktop like any other app. On iPhone or iPad, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
  • When a new version is ready, a small bar at the bottom asks before reloading, and it stays hidden while you play.
  • Six achievements that could never be unlocked now can: Speed Demon, Endurance, Marathon, Veteran, Dedicated and Addicted. Games you had already played count, but Speed Demon counts Insane games only from this update on.
  • The header and footer now show their frosted glass look in Chrome and Edge, and the newsletter signup box has a clear border that lights up when you click or tab into it.
  • Typing www.mouseaccuracy.com now brings you to the site.
  • Sep 19: Sharing a score on X shows your real accuracy instead of 0%.
  • Sep 19: An uploaded cursor made from a large file no longer stops your settings from saving or games from starting. If it is too big to save, it still works until you reload.

Fixes for older browsers and mouse buttons

v2.1

Older browsers like Chrome on Windows 7 now show the site in color, with targets you can see.

  • Before this update, those browsers showed targets as empty outlines, and buttons and menus had no color at all.
  • Mar 8: Only left and right clicks count in the game now, not middle clicks. You can still hold one button and click the other, as when aiming down sights.
  • Mar 8: On phones and tablets, the Share on X button on the results page no longer shows stray text.

A whole new look, combos and achievements

v2.0

A new design, plus combos, achievements, sound effects, new cursors and a picture of your mouse path after every game.

  • The whole site has a new design in the target color you pick. Hits burst into particles of that color, with a bigger burst from 10 in a row.
  • Combos: 5 hits in a row earn 1.5x points, rising to 3x at 50, and a missed click starts the count over. Tiny targets went up to 8 points a hit, and Small to 5.
  • 26 achievements to earn, though six could not be unlocked until the Sep 18 update.
  • The Achievements page also shows your games played and best score, all saved in this browser. Reset All Data, at the bottom of the page, clears it all.
  • Sound effects for hits, misses and combos, with beeps for the 3-2-1 countdown and the last five seconds. Sound starts off: turn it on with the speaker button at the top.
  • Choose from 13 crosshairs, dots and pointers in the size and color you like, or upload your own image, GIF or video up to 2 MB.
  • After each game, see the path your mouse took, with every hit and miss marked, in a picture you can copy or save.
  • The original game is still playable as the classic version.
  • Jan 14: Preset cursors in the game now move in step with your mouse, and you can turn off Mouse Path Recording or Particle Effects if the game stutters.
  • Jan 15: Your cursor now shows in the game on touch-screen laptops, and an uploaded cursor stays picked after you reload the page.
  • Jan 31: Your cursor also appears in the game on a tablet with a mouse connected, where it used to disappear.
  • Feb 20: The Crosshair Plus, Crosshair Circle and Pointer Light cursors now look the same in the game as in Cursor Settings, and while the site loads you see its title and layout instead of a blank screen.

Questions and answers

How do I get the newest version?

It comes on its own. When a new version is ready, a bar at the bottom of the page says "A new version is ready." Click Reload to switch to it now, or close every Mouse Accuracy tab and open the site again. Your scores, settings and achievements stay as they are.

Where do I hear about new updates?

The bell at the top of the page shows the three newest on a computer, and on a phone they are in the menu. The newsletter at the bottom of the page sends news by email.
